Are You A Lighthouse Lover?

Stay in a Real Historic Lighthouse

The Surgeon Cove Head Lighthouse is located on the Western side of Exploits Island and overlooks the “Ships Run” in the Bay of Exploits. Standing over 200 feet above sea level, it was built in 1911 as a navigational aid to ships entering the seaport town of Botwood as well as providing safety to small boat fishers around the bay.

Adventures Newfoundland acquired the lighthouse property in 2009 and in 2024 we obtained Heritage status from Heritage Foundation of Newfoundland & Labrador.

Join us on a two day two night tour that will take you to the village of Exploits on Exploits Island and then onto the Surgeon Cove Head lighthouse station for a day and evening of adventure accompanied by astounding views. Learn what a day as a lightkeeper entailed from an experienced guide and stay a night in the light keepers residence.
